The Avengers
Avengers Assemble! The Avengers is a true delight, although not perfect. excels to new heights for the superhero genre thanks to great direction, tight story telling and lots of character!
Now I was so excited for this movie when it came out. Ever sense I heard of it in 2008. I knew very little about the Avengers back then, but quickly did my homework to see what this could be like. and just the idea of a film, with a team of superheroes in one movie, working together to stop chaos, sold me. I'm a comic sci-fi movie geek so I'm already in. but there was so much that could have gone wrong with this film, not being able to focus on so many characters, and keep the audience caring about them all. Stuff like that, so in a word.
I love this film, in fact until "Man of Steel" came out, it was my most favorite superhero film of all time, I thought the characters were great, the chemistry was sizzling between the actors and in my opinion was one of the best assemble cast of 2012.

premise; just in case you didn't see it, The Story is quite simple really, Thor's Brother Loki a Asgardian God, who you last see falling through space in "Thor" in what to appears to have been a black hole, has gained some powers and an few allies on his odyssey through the cosmos. And returns for he's vengeance trying to take over world. Classic villain stuff.
so after he gets his hands on ancient artifact, known as the Tesseract. Some cube thing that's full potential is never fully explained. and brain washes Hawkeye, with his scepter. it turns out being more then S.H.I.L.E.D can chew. So they assemble a group of extraordinary people who will be known as "The Avengers"
Although I have yet to find a superhero film completely without faults. (yes sadly even Man of Steel has them)
This film is no exception
Okay lets get the stuff I didn't like out of the way. The Chitauri. army at the end was a brainless army that were just kind of a convenient huge army for the avengers to slaughter left and right, and you didn't care about any of them, and were they even life forms or some kind of organic robots? I will forgive them for this, this time around, because the main focus was "The Avengers" and getting them to work on screen, (Avengers 2 however needs to fix this). the final battle was awesome looking but after a few viewings, it felt a little too choreographed. Thor must be here doing this. Black Widow all the sudden knows how to use alien technology. now not the whole battle just parts of it. overall the battle scene was pretty awesome, and in my experance; rarely does a Superhero film's climatic battle scene live up to the screen for me. it had some plot holes, you never really understand the Tesseract. Hawkeye never really getting to be a character you can like. because he is compromised the first half of the movie, I wanna see some of his witty one-liners from the "Avengers Earth's mightiest heroes" but apparently he has a very large role in Avengers: Age of Untron. so well see. Um, Maria Hill very thin character so far. maybe they'll spice her up a bit not the most impressed with Cobbie Smulders performance, but I think she just need room to grow.(Liked her better in "Safe Havan" but yeah that's pretty much it
lets talk about the characters
Iron Man Played my Robert Doweny Jr.
"Take off the Suit and what are?" "Genius, Billionaire, Playboy, Philanthropist" is Tony's response, Robert Really nailed it with this one. he was really on his game and I loved the tension between his character Tony Stark and Steve Rogers . just so great. Probably my favorite thing about this film; was the way they put these crazy awesome characters together and forced to work with each other, some of my favorite parts were on the helicarrier, and the tension those scenes from the scope. the camera angles were brilliant loved the cinematography. I especially loved the scene, were they were all arguing with he each other , and the way camera angles move during that sequence. I loved the sets like I said the Helicarrier loved it.
So you got Captain America, a man of out of time. he was frozen for seven decades, wakes up to find the world more messed up then before he was a capclical. I thought Chris Evans was great as Steve Rogers and just really nailed it too.
You got Bruce Banner aka The Hulk reluctant scientist, played to a tie my Mark Rufalo loved him as the Hulk.
Black Widow played by Scarlet Johansson the super spy, she did great as the character thought she brought this weight to her character that is often missing in female characters in Superhero films especially .Then there is the Villain, Loki.
Played by Tom Hiddlson, I don't know how he does it, but somehow Tom Hiddleson makes it really hard to dislike this evil villain who wants to take over the world, maybe it's the sutle hints of confliction you see in his character throughout the film, he is a more complicated character then meets the eye and I just love Tom Hiddlson.
I don't know him in person, but if you just watch him in some of his interviews you can just tell he is a great person-a true gentlemen, who really cares about this universe. You gotta love Loki.
the score was pretty good, not the best I've ever heard, but still really good.
one of the best things about this movie though was probably the direction by Joss Whedon. a true fan himself. it translates on the screen. You can tell here really cares about what he is doing, and wants to get it right, so kudos to Whedon for giving us such a great film!
I'll be very interested to see what he can bring to this franchise in the future, Marvel has just tapped into a goldmine, lets hope they don't get too cocky, and that they stick to their guns, I do have a little reservations after seeing Iron Man 3.. not an awful movie, but probably my least favorite Marvel film to date.
Still enthusiastic about Thor: The Dark World, though, so here's hoping.
I know this is getting really long and it's probably starting to show, but overall I loved this film. fantastic characters, acting and direction made a simple film a brilliant one. still one of my favorite films of all time, can't wait for Age of Untron in 2015!
