My Most Anticipated Films of 2014 countdown 15-13

My Most Anticipated Films of 2014!

Well I know it's been a long time coming, and part of the reason I didn't make this list was because I was so disappointed with some films I was looking forward to last year I felt like putting them up would make them destined to fall short. But that's nonsense, of course not all of my anticipated films are going to live up to my expectations. So without further ado I will release my most anticipated films of 2014 (minus January, Lone Survivor was pretty much the only film I was looking forward to, saw it, it was really good.)

Before I do my top 15 list I'll do a couple honorable mentions:

Child 44: Set in Stalin-era Soviet Union with Tom Hardy as the lead. This movies sounds really interesting to me and might have made my list but there's still no preview for it--or release date for that matter.

Big Hero 6 (Disney's First Marvel animated film).
Godzilla looks like it could be really awesome.
Jupiter Ascending looks intriguing..
Gone Girl sounds very interesting, don't know enough about it yet.
Chef Directed by Jon Favrea (Director of Iron Man), staring Jon Favreau, Robert Downey Jr. and Scarlet Johansson. Practically Marvel's Kitcken.. about a food truck. Very interested.

Maleficent .. I want it to be good.. but I still have the bad taste of "Snow white and the Huntsmen" in my mouth. Plus Oz was only so-so--even Alice was weak story-wise.. and the trailers don't look like there's much story so far..
Into the Woods and Need for Speed both could have potential to be good ..

Now for the real top 15 though:

15#
The Fault in our Stars. It looks really sad.. it also looks really good, for the most part anyway.. I haven't read the book, but this just looks like it has potential to be a very moving film.

Releases 6.6.14

14#

Divergent. I must confess, I have the book and still haven't finished it. Not that I think it's bad, it's good so far.. but it's no Hunger Games.. I think the movie looks good though not as good as Hunger Games.. but good.

Releases: 3.21.14

13#
The Lego Movie!! This looks so fun, funny and cool. I just want to play with the legos, they look so playable.. plus this "Man of Steel" parody trailer is Awesome!

Favorite Films of 2013 1# Catching Fire

Favorite films of 2013 1#: Catching Fire

"The Hunger Games: Catching Fire"
I was just amazed by how good this movie was, I already wrote my in-depth review for it so there's not much else to say, but the pacing was great the action was great the drama, the whole assembled cast were outstanding in there roles, the area was just like I imagined it. I'm going to say that there wasn't a bad scene in this movie, in fact pretty much the only thing I can complain about was scenes that weren't there! one of my favorite book of all times becomes one of my all time favorite movies Spectacular! you need to see this movie!

9.8/10

well there you have it my top 15 movies of 2013 boy was it a good year for Sci-Fi wasn't and surprisingly young adult sci-fi adaptions! with Warm Bodies, The Host, Ender's Game, Pacific Rim, Star Trek into Darkness and the Hunger Games Catching Fire all in my top 15! plus Gravity which isn't really sc-fi but it's in space so kind of. Favorite Film of 2013 2# The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug

Favorite Film of 2013 2# The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug

"The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug"
I really Liked the first Hobbit a lot, though not nearly as much as "Lord of the Rings" but The Lord of the Rings is one of the greatest film trilogies ever made. and even I was a bit skeptical about splitting it into three movies,  this movie turned out to be a pleasant surprise, amazing film I loved it a tons! it's pace was a lot better then the first and that barrel action sequences was incredible, I loved Evangeline Lilly as Tauriel the elf and her incorporated story, but she had me at "Lost" Martin Freeman was once again outstanding as bible and Benedict Cumberbatch was stupendous as the voice Smuag  the Dragon and the most amazing Dragon ever seen on film! Ian McKellen was of course great as Gandalf, It was nice to see Orlando Bloom back a Legolas,  Adian Turner as Kill gets some nice attention and is awesome, and oh yes Luke Evans as Bard! fantastic the score was great, the visuals were great, very little bad to say about this, the begging was a little slow I guess, and The skin changer bear guy was a bit disappointing. oh and dwarfs may be though be they can't ride little iron carts on molten gold without getting really messed up. but those were pretty minor things I loved, I actually liked it almost as much as Lord of the Rings and can't wait for the final!

9.7/10
oh and this song is amazing

Favorite Film of 2013 3# Man of Steel.

3# Favorite film of 2013!

"Man of Steel"
This was like one of my most anticipated films of all time, so maybe it didn't quite reach the greatness I thought it would, but boy did it come close. I'm convinced that Henry Cavill is the perfect Superman, he just embodies the character completely and does excellent in it.  the nonlinear story telling was unique for a superhero film and I thought it was really cool, as the film progresses giving us flashes into his past as Kal-El, The Visual were awesome, the action was awesome, and the cinematography was breath-taking, loved the score, although I got to admit it didn't beat the original superman theme, there were a couple of problems I had with it,I had mixed feelings about the way (spoiler) Jonathan Kent died, wished it would have dug a little bit deeper into some characters, and Amy Adam's Lois Lane could have been just a little bit more spunky, and while the final action sequences were overall amazing, some went on just a little too long and felt a little repetitive after a while, but I acknowledge it's flaws and still love it, there is a lot to love about this movie, give it a chance if you haven't yet, Man of Steel sounds .. interesting it's probably either going to be fantastic or a train wreck.. lets hope for the ladder.

Favorite Film of 2013 4# Star Trek Into Darkness

"Star Trek Into Darkness"
The Second film Directed by J J Abrams, turned out to be a fantastic wonderfully acting visually stunning roller coaster ride of a film! in a good way, the film is very fast pace and doesn't slow down but manages to have depth and character. "Star Trek" is one of my favorite films of all time so this had a lot to live up to, and while maybe it's not quite as good story wise it makes up in action. and is very close to matching it's predecessor in greatness. loved this movie! and to think J J Abrams is directing Star Wars VII.. every time i have doubts about it I just think of that

9.5/10

Favorite Film of 2013 5# Frozen

Favorite of 2013 5#

"Frozen"
based lousily on "The Snow Queen" this movie really surprised me, I thought it seemed kind of uninteresting, coming from Disney, but I loved "Tangled" and "Wreck-it Ralph" and it was getting crazy good reviews so I figured I'd give it a shot, and well it was really good, great songs, breathtaking animation and real heart, I found this to be a fantastic addition to Diseny's Animation, some say it's the First Animated film Since the Lion King to be as good as the Golden Age Disney films, I think they were already there with Tangled, and No it's not as Good as the Lion King.. but it is really really good. and the best animated film of the year by a long shot.
9.1/10

Favorite Films of 2013 6# Mud

"Mud"
Mud is man on the run from the law, who is waiting to meet up with his girlfriend Juniper. who Ellis and his best friend 'neckbone' find in there bout in tree and decide to help him.

This movie as just fantastic a nice break from mainstream film, it take place in the heart of the south and a unique plot, each sense was felt it was handled with care and overall a very artistic touch, Matthew McConaughey, was excellent in the as title character, and I'm be curious to to see what Tye Sheridan does next, if you looking for a good but different movie this is it

9/10

Favorite Film of 2013 7# Pacific Rim

7# Favorite Film of 2013

"Pacific Rim"
I thought this movie didn't look very good from the trailers and kind of like Transformers rip off. boy was a wrong this turned out to be an awesome Monsters Versus Machines post Apocalypse movie.  that took the time to get you care about the characters, and in 3D it's just smashing cool!

8.5.10

Favorite Film of 2013 8# Ender's Game

8# Favorite Film of 2013

"Ender's Game"
This movie really surprised me I know the acting was going to be good, having Seen Asa Butterfield in "Hugo" not to mention Harrsion Ford, Viola Davis, Hailee Steinfeld and Abigail Breslin. but the story was actually pretty close to the book, and told with care and it was emotional and deep and the end kind of crushes you. and the visuals were just amazing!

8.4/10

Favorite film of 2013 9# Gravity

9# Favorite of 2013

"Gravity"
This was almost a tie with the next film on the list, but this movie is intense, and the fact that almost the whole is two people in space trying to get back to earth and isn't boring says something about, I saw it in 3D and it was one of the best 3D experiences I've seen if not the best, it feels like your there with Sandra Bullock's character and it's terrifying and amazing at the same time. and so intense. one weakness is there isn't a whole lot of story there, but it's still a remarkable film and a visual achievement.

8.3/10

Favorite film of 2013 10# The Wolverine

Now going into my top 10

The Wolverine, I found this Wolverine, to be an improvement over "Origins" and a really good X-Men film overall. plus it's the first film to take place after X-Men 3! so it was nice to finally some continuity. High Jackman was spot on in his performance as Logan aka "The Wolverine" it had some awesome action sequences and the Japanese setting didn't hear, plus some quite good humor. it fall a little flat at the end but still very good. and I can't wait for X-Men Days of Future Past!

8.2/10

11# Favorite film of 2013

"The Host" for some reason got some of the worst reviews of the year, probably because it was based of a book of the same author of the "Twilight" Series. and while I could see why everyone might not like it and it's far from perfect. I just really liked this movie a lot. about to  persons in one body, having to work together that strange love . .square. I just found it a fascinating sci-fi romance thriller. and thought it was very unique.

if you haven't seen it you should give it a chance!

8.1/10
12#

"Despicable Me 2" I actually don't remember a whole lot about this movie.. except that it was super funny, probably the funniest movie I've seen all year, and I even think the Minions are a little over rated. but this is just a good movie for a laugh. go and see it if you haven't yet!
My 13# Favorite film of 2013

This movie turned out to be a pleasant surprise to be, I liked "Monsters University" but it was by no means my favorite Pixar animated film. and I thought this would be a entertaining little film. it takes place before Mike and Sully were the best scare team ever, when they went to "Monsters University" collage for scarers.
I thought this was a great film and I'm not usually into Pixar films like most of the world, I found a good touching story about friendship with some nice humor thrown in. I think I even like it better then  the original!    8/10
14# film of 2013

"Warm Bodies" set in a post-apocalyptic world, where most of the world is Zombies "R" a bit different he saves a girl "Julie" and kind of likes her, and as he slowly devours her boyfriends brain gets glimpses of her past and starts to fall in love with her she's freaked out at first but slowly grows to like him. causing him to become "human" again. this was just weird and awesome and cool and funny.. and not for everyone but if you have a tough stomach and like a good romance comedy with well zombies when this for you!

7.5/10
and now on to good things, I was going to wait until I saw more movies to do this list, but I'd probably be waiting until like well whenever "12 Years a Slave" gets a Dvd release. to post and I don't want to wait that long and I want to do my most anticipated 2014 movies this month so. there were so many really good movies this year, I felt a top 10 wouldn't mention all the movies I wanted to so I'm going to do a top 15 list.

starting with 15.

"42" based on a true story about Jackie Robinson the first major league black baseball player I thought this was a really good moving and touching film Harrsion Ford his baseball manager and give his best performance I've in over a decade. a great film about enduring persecution to follower your drama friendship and brotherhood. really good, highly recommend 7.5/10
My Biggest Disappointment of 2013

Now this does not necessarily mean the movie was bad, but my expectations versus what I actually thought of the movie.

Now lets just say, that I was super excited for this movie, and the trailers for it looked amazing, probably aside from "Man of Steel, and Catching Fire's" the best trailers of the year for a movie, it was coming off "The Avengers" my favorite superhero film of all time, so when It came out, I was expecting. an awesome deep action drama. got plenty of action. what I wasn't expecting was all that Humor.. so the Avengers was quite funny, and I was expecting there to be some, and you can do a quite serious action drama and still incorporate quite a bit of humor (Spider-Man 2 for example). but it just felt out of place at parts and while some of it was good, not all was. and the script just seemed a little weak. a very weak villain, It just failed to live up to my expectations. now I did watch it again and I did like better the second time. I would even call it a solid movie. quite enjoyable, but still when you compare it to the first Iron Man or even the First Captain America or Thor. it just doesn't hold up to them, to me I'd give it a B+ when I was hoping for a grade that I probably shouldn't have been expecting an A or maybe an A+ Film. but I'd give "Iron Man" an A+ so is it really? I actually liked it a little better then "Thor 2" but by the time that came out I had quite lower expectations-that and the trailers weren't very good. I understand that alot of people liked this movie and that's fine I could see how you could.  and I'm pretty much over being disappointed now and I've actually been wanting to watch it again, and will probably even buy it eventually and who knows maybe it will grow on me even more. when I saw "The Dark Knight" I gave it like a "C-" Now I'd give it an "A" Captain America: The Winter Soldier looks really really good, I hope it can revive my faith in "Marvel/Disney" it would help sent my fears for Star Wars VII at ease.
