 Movies of 2013 Part 1

First Quarter (Jan-Mar)

Hey Everyone. if you remember I made a list of my 13 most anticipated films of 2013..well now that's it's closer to next year I kind of wanted to do a re-cape. some things have remain the same but some have changed. but this time I do them in chronological release order.. starting with the first quarter of the year. there's a lot of movies I want to see this Winter/Spring. but no not much sees like last year (The Hunger Games, John Carter and Phantom Menace 3D would all fit that category last year. The Impossible, being the only one the might get that treat.)

The Impossible 1.4.13 (Limited 12.21.12)

So technically this is a 2012 release.   but this movie looks soo good and isn't really available to the public until 2013 so it fits.

telling the true story of a surviving family of  the 2004 tsunami. separated by the disaster. the family searches  desperately to be reunited. Staring Ewan Mcgregor and Naomi Watts, both great actors. who are being praise for thier outstanding proforances in their respecting roles. this movie just truly moving, and triumphant. I'm excited for this one.

Interest level  8.5/10 Anticipation level: 7/10

Gangster Squad 1.11.13

set in the 1940s a group of cops go under cover to try stop a mafia crime lord Mickey Cohen.

looks interesting enough from the previews. not at the top of my to see list, but I might check it out. it does have Emma Stone..

Staring Sean Penn, Ryan Gosling, Josh Brolin and Emma Stone.

Interest level  5/10 Anticipation level: 1/10

Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters 1.25.13

A twist on a classic tale, Hasnel and Gretel are all grown up and hunt down witches for a living.

from the previews it's hard to say weather this will actually be any good or not, and I'm not usually one for a gore fest, but Jeremy Renner is pretty awesome. and Gemma Arterton is pretty easy on the eyes.  and it does have me intrigued at least a little.

Interest level  5.5/10 Anticipation level: 2/10

A Good Day to Die Hard. 2.14.13

John McClane travels to Russia to help out his seemingly wayward son, Jack, only to discover that Jack is a CIA operative working to prevent a nuclear-weapons heist, causing the father and son to team up against underworld forces.

Looks like it could be decent, a little to shot-em up for me. but might be worth a try. I did like, live free or die hard quite well, Don't know if I'll make it to the theater for this or not, so not really at the top of my list either. I don't think I need to say who it's staring..

Interest level  6/10 Anticipation level: 2/10

Safe Haven 2.14.13

A young woman with a mysterious past lands in Southport, North Carolina where her bond with a widower forces her to confront the dark secret that haunts her.

this is the next Nicholas Sparks novel to be turned into a movie, kind of a hit and miss movie series imo (Liked A Walk to Remember, not Dear John) this movie looks like the latter. it ads a suspense element, to it takes gives it a fresh (for a Nicolas Spark movie anyway) feel. and I like Josh Duhamel. so might actually be good. but still pretty low on my to see list.

Interest level  6/10 Anticipation level: 2/10

 Jack the Giant Slayer 3.1.13

The Classic Tale of Jack and the bean Stock. with a somewhat different take on the tales, finds jack fighting giants (ugly giants) and finding love. Jack played by  Nicholas Hoult who played Beast in X-Men First Class. who I thought did a pretty solid job in that. looks to be decent in this, but the main reason this film interest me is Ewan McGregor. who plays a cocky Knight(?). and it's Directed by Bryan Singer  (director of X-Men and X-Men 2). but I have my reservations weather this will actually be good or not. I Mean pretty much casting alone should make it better then say "Eragon" but I don't like the look of the giants at all, they're so obviously CGI. I hate it when film companies think. just because it's a "Blockbuster" they have to use CGI just cause they can. real actors with make-up would have been better. and it also has some stuff that would sigjest it could get a little cheese. but never-the-less I do want to see it. and probably will end up catching it in cinemas.

Interest level  7/10 Anticipation level: 6/10

Oz: The Great And Powerful 3.8.13

a Prequel to "The Wizard of Oz" tells the story of how Oz a Simple Magician of the real world, fond his way into the land of Oz. and became the great and powerful Directed By Sam Raimi (who directed the "Spider-Man" Trilogy)

Staring James Franco, Rachel Weisz, Mila Kunis, and Michelle Williams. it has a very talented cast to say the least. and the Visuals while somewhat cartoony do look, a little dazzling. I must confess I'm not the biggest "OZ" fan, but this movie might just be worth a try. and I might even be a little excited for it

Interest level  7.5/10 Anticipation level: 7.5/10

The Croods 3.22.13

The world's very first prehistoric family goes on a road trip to an uncharted and fantastical world.
I don't believe in evolution or the Stone ages for that matter (Jesus is Lord )

but this a cute family animation surprised me with the trailer. the animation is beautiful. and DreamWorks has more hits then misses. now I doubt it will make my top 10 favorite animations. but I wouldn't mind venturing to the theater to see this. and it also stars Emma Stone. I don't think Nicholas Cage should do voices. he just doesn't sound good. and his voices stands out way too much. Ryan Reynolds as Epp's (Emma Stone) love interest sounds great. so overall I'm quite looking forward to this.

Interest level  7/10 Anticipation level: 6.5/10

G. I. Joe: Retaliation 3.29.13

The Sequel to G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. The G.I. puts the Joes are not only fighting their mortal enemy Cobra; but they are forced to contend with threats from within the government that jeopardize their very existence as well.

I saw the first preview for this movie like a year ago. and I liked it alot. but I'm kind of up and dawn with this movie, I mean G. I. Joe was corny, enjoyable but still corny. I hope this is a little less cheese and a little more story. but you can only hope for some much from a movie based on a action figure. but still the action looks great. and I'm sure I'll be seeing it.

Interest level  7.5/10 Anticipation level: 7.5/10

and last but not least is.

The Host 3.29.13

Opening the same day as G. I. Joe. is Stephenie Meyer's adaption of her Sci-Fi  Novel "The Host" where Aliens invade earth by taking over humans bodies and overriding their willpower. Melanie Stryder however; is one who resists. there also a Love triangle thing going on of course. out of all the movies releases this spring this one at least looks the most original. and the preview is weird but in a good way. I haven't read the book yet. but I want to. now I am  kind of a twilight fan, not a crazy one, but I don't think it deserves the ridicule it gets  (maybe some of it :P). but this is probably one of the most anticipated movies of the first quarter for me.

Interest level  7.5/10 Anticipation level: 7.5/10

so there you have, 10 films that interest me in the first quarter of 2013

a lot of them I want to see about the same but if there was an order it might be like this

1# The Impossible
2# The Host
3# Oz: the Great and Powerful
4# G. I. Joe: Retaliation
5# The Croods
6# Jack the Giant Slayer
7# Safe Haven
8# A Good Day to Die Hard
9# Hansel and Gretel Witch Hunters
10# Gangster Squad

Are you happy now Andrea..

1#

Dawn of the Jedi

A Series set at pretty much the beginning of a galaxy far far away, about how the first Jedi came to being and learnt the ways of the force. Could be so epic, amazing if done right

2# New Jedi Order, this is a series I read and loved and while the new series will most likely be something unrelated to the books, I can still dream can’t I? the Yuuzhan Vong have invaded the “Star wars Galaxy and seek the conquer it, and redeem it of it’s abominations, namely technology. This was overall a amazing series spanning around 20 novels, which is really long, but a lot of it was filler and not all of it was great, so it could be reorganized a bit, it also features awesome characters like Luke Skywalker, Leia Solo, Han solo, Mara Jade Skywalker (Luke’s wife and Jedi Master ) and the solo Children. Jaina, Jacen and Anakin Solo, this series was very epic, very character driven, which Is something which was greatly lacking from even the Original Trilogy. It was also very graphic and would be hard to tone down to a PG-13 level (It wouldn't need to be imo but mainstream audiences might not be so eager to see something Star Wars with an “R“ rating strapped to it .”  let alone PG. I think it would work best as a tv-series, which would be fine by me, if they could get a big enough budget for it.

3# The Knights of the Old Republic, this is actually based on a video game, one of the best video Games ever though, and with surprising depth to it, taking place about  5,000 years before The rise of the Empire, it is when the Republic at war with the sith, which are not all sith (as in force users) a film wouldn’t necessarily take to be based directly on the video game, and with the new MMO “The Old Repbulic” it would be awesome to have a story-line taking place around this era.

4# George’s 7 8 and 9. Now, I love the books taking place after The Return of the JedI, but I still would be very interested in seeing what he had in Mind, for after the empire was defeated. And Imagine, if you could actually get the original cast back ? Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford as old and wise, and Carrie Marks part Jedi Masters. Could be awesome, just not Jar Jar, and more character development please. Of course it could be pretty much anything maybe taking place hundreds of years after “Jedi” and Focusing on one of Lukes descendants.

5# The Thrawn Trilogy and Hand of Thrawn duelgy. Written by Timothy Zhan and  the first book published in 1991, over 20 years ago now, It was the fist star wars novels to continue the stories of Luke, Leia and Han solo,  and it received praise by critics and fans alike, winning numerous awards and becoming a instant best seller, and it introduces iconic villain  Grand Admiral Thrawn, a Imperial leader with ingenious battles tactics and master mind intellect, it would also introduce Mara Jade, one of the most well known and beloved Star wars EU characters, of course they would have to recast the actors, which would be hard but not Impossible cause it takes place only 5 years after RotJ, I certainly wouldn't be crying if this was it, this would be most fans obvious choice and perhaps the safest bet, but they don’t seem to be going that direction. L

6#  The Force Unleashed, This is also a video game, but taking place in-between episode IV and V so it would be more like Episode 111 ½. , about Vader’s secret apprentice, unlike some material it is actually official star wars canon, the actor  Sam Witwer, looked like the character, and is still young enough to play him, not to mention he is a pretty decent actor, it may be the best story out there, but it is good, and some killer force using could be seen.  I wouldn't mind seeing this on the big screen.

7# something completely new, focusing on new characters in a timeline unexplored, maybe hundreds of years after the fall of the empire, would give writers lots of room to work with, but this would mean putting a lot of trust in whatever direction they are wanting to go, they have a whole galaxy to play with. And lots of possibilities, but not all are good.

Also wouldn't mind seeing adoptions of  “Courtship of Princess Leia” “Legacy of the Force”  Fate of the Jedi” “Young Jedi Knights, and “The Old Republic: Deceived” amazing book and works great as a stand alone)  Jedi Academy Trilogy,

I hear Shadows of the Empire is good too, although I haven’t got a chance to read it yet.
Oh and Shadow Games, was an awesome book!”

Just some thoughts on where they could go with this

What are yours?

In a stunning turn of events, George Lucas as made a announcement, to beat all other announcements.

Well for one thing he's retiring, next he's sold Lucasfilm to Disney.

and last but not least. they are coming out with more star wars movies!!!

Yes you heard it, thought your adventures in a galaxy far far away, were over? well think again, cause they are planing to release a new trilogy starting in 2015. with films after to follow every 2 or 3 years, this is what I was hoping for George to say, to realize that the star wars universe is far to big to be contained in six films, that it is ongoing and a cannon that should be treated like "Marvel" where stories can take place in the galaxy far far away and focus on different characters and story-lines, the launch date set is ironically the same year, as the sequel for the record breaking "Avengers". and the presumed launch date for the Justice League movie, not to mention the year, Avatar 2 is suppose to be released. this is great new for (most) Star Wars fans! it's what I've been dying to hear ever sense Revenge of the Sith hit theaters seven years ago and I was waiting in line for six hours to see the premiere, of course now that I'm older I see the faults in the prequels, bad dialog, stiff acting and lacking something that was in the OT. I do think "Sith" is still a great movie and was a vast improvement upon the other prequels. but let's just say I'm hoping these new movies will be more "Empire" and Less "Menace". so I So I wanted to explore on what new Films I think should be made, now that my dreams have became a reality, and on a side note, I know I never finished, my Top 5 movies of the summer, got side tracked I guess, so I'll list them briefly.

2# The Dark Knight Rises, Exceeding my expectations in every way amazing film!

1# The Avengers, Loved it, incredible amazing film, I'm currant favorite film of all time right now,
I'm planing on a top ten films of 2012 or something like that so I'll evaluate more, on "Avengers when I do that"

But I'll have my Ideas for what they should make in my next post.

May the Force Be with you always..

Now, if you Already Read my Review of the Amazing Spider-Man, you know I loved it,whats different about this is I wasn't expecting to. I mean an re-boot after only five years?!, Because Emma Stone wasn't in it I least it would be a alright film. and while it's far from perfect, (the whole mutating lizards thing was a little cheesy if you asked me) the characters were so likable that you couldn't help but enjoy the film, namely Peter Parker, Played by Andrew Garfield who stole the show in the role. and Gwen Stacy (how could you not love Emma Stone this role? or any role for that matter.) so this I what I would call the Surprise hit of the summer for me, thought it would be okay, turned out being a real treat, and I am awaiting it's arivial to Dvd just before my birthday. ;D

Okay, I know I've been taking forever to reel these out  so I’m going to try and finish them up quick

#4

I wasn't really sure if this would be good or not upon first hearing it, and then last Christmas seeing the teaser had me very interested and the theatrical was even better, and then I saw it, visually it was one of the best movies I've ever seen, the 3D was one of the best takes yet, it looked stunning, story wise was a bit more disappointing , there was a lot of stuff not fully explained and some things, that just plan obviously could not be possible even in Sc-if. Like Elizabeth having a sea section and then run all over the place hours later. For some reason that didn't bother me as much as it might other people, so overall I really found this a very enjoyable film. Vary flawed but enjoyable.

5#

Released 8.10.12

Now, I'll start out by saying I only saw six different movies this summer, so having Bourne Legacy as
Number 5# isn't really saying much. and for the most part movies I saw either blew me out of the water.. or were major let downs. Bourne Legacy unfortunately  as the ladder category, while I was impressed with the two leads, Jeremy and Rachel, who more then held their own, and other they needed was a excellent story to match their efforts and this could have been as good as any Bourne movie, but instead, we got chopped liver story bits and one of the most disappointing long, and unimaginative action climaxes’ I've seen. and had it not been for the actors, this would have been a bad movie. but they made it bareable

Hey everyone, I know it's been forever sense I've posted on here but I'll try and get back into more regularly soon, now that summer is over (movie wise anyway) you may think that the time for good movies is over, while it's true the big budget blockbusters are, gone for now, there still some movies worth taking a look at, and the of course there's the holiday season! which “The Hobbit” alone, makes it one of my most anticipated holiday seasons ever.

And I also like to look back at the goodies summer 2012 had to offer so I’ll do a list of the top 5 movies of the summer!

Hey you guys here is my Dark Knight Rises Review!

The Dark Knight Rises

Directed By Christopher Nolan.

I just want to start off by saying I wasn’t the Biggest “Dark Knight” fan.
Or even the biggest batman fan (I’m a Superman guy.. In case you haven’t noticed)
I mean Batman Begins was good, not great, certainly better than the batman movies before it, the Dark knight was actually pretty good, mostly due to heath ledger’s performance as the Joker, whish is truly outstanding and creepy. But I could still name about a dozen other superhero films I liked better, I mean, I was somewhat biased that it couldn’t fit in with the rest of the DC universe.
(I’m a huge Justice League fan too btw. ) but then I saw the Dark Knight Rises..

And everything changed, I didn’t care that it couldn’t fit into the rest of DC universe because it was done so deliciously perfect, it starts out strong and intense with a plane scene that introduces the villain of the film, Bane, which I actually liked better then the Joker, partly for reasons that most people wouldn’t understand. (Haha). Played to excellence by Tom Hardy, who is also one of my favorite actors. He is extremely terrorizing, brother.
The story starts out eight years after the events of the Dark Knight, it is a time of peace for Gotham City, the Batman hasn’t been seen sense the night Harvey Dent was “Murdered” and Bruce Wayne himself, has become a recluse. Everything changes when bane shows up. A murderous terrorist whos, true identity is unknown, the movie introduces Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle a master “cat” burglar who warns Bruce of the coming storm, she truly does a amazing job of playing the elusive catwomen, sometimes, a baddy, but you can see it’s all just an act.
Also Joseph Gordon- Levitt plays a cop named Blake an orphan who also fights for justice much like batman.. (I won’t give anything away, but if you’re a fan of a certain character-like I am, you should be at least somewhat pleased) Joseph just really does a great job as well there are just so many great actors in this movie.. A lot from inception too..  Add in Marion Cotillard and you could almost call it “Inception 2: rise of the Batman” .. Oh wait she is in it..

As Miranda Tate. A business women who’s trying to kept Gothen in check, now that Bruce is no longer active, but she may not be all that she seems, she like the other cast did a fine job, maybe not quite to the extent as some, but she had a smaller role to work with, although I can’t really say I liked her character.

Morgen Freeman, Gary Oldman and Michael Caine, were awesome as always.
I would spend more time on each, but that would make this review really long, lets just say Gordon is really really cool this time round.

And then there’s Christian bale, I thought he did alright in the first two but this one he really stepped up to the plate or rose up you could say, Bruce does get more screen time then batman but the parts he is the cape crusader are mind blowing. Bale was actually one of the best things about this movie truly great performance, the sets were amazing, and seeing it in IMAX only amplified that the story was deep and heartfelt, the score was incredible, there was just such a great momentum buildup throughout the whole movie, so much so that it’s hard to separate favorite screens, although I had many but the whole movie was kind of a big favorite scene,
and the end was just wow, I wont spoil it, but it made have had one of the most satisfying endings ever. I came in expecting it to be really good, certainly not as good as the Avengers, and came out thinking it one of the best films ever to hit the big screen, maybe tied with, Avengers for all time favorite movie.

Truly amazing film 10/10. go see it.

And now the moment we've all been waiting for .. the Number 1# movie I just can't wait to see next year.

And it is no other then...

 Releases 6.14.13

And there it is. The Man of Steel, Superman for a whole new generation. Now, I'll admit at first I was a bit skeptical about the re-boot of the Franchise. for one thing unlike some people I actually really liked "Superman Returns" I loved it when i first saw it to tell you the truth, and now that a few years have past I see a couple things that could have been better, the actor for one thing, wasn't bad but could have been better, there wasn't really anything new to it's from the originals, to red-blue and yellow Maybe?? well not really with superman, but It wasn't taken quite seriously enough and I have mixed feelings about "the son of superman approach they were going for. not that it can't be done, but yeah.. anyway back to this superman movie.

Superman is my favorite superhero, and I like alot, and usually how much I like the movies their in makes me like them more or less. but to be honest Sups is more then just a character in a movie, or even a comic book, he is a symbol of hope and justice, that in a world full of hate and despair you can rise above it and become someone better, okay he's not Jesus (although he was inspired by him, which is probably why he's so good)
but, he also has one of the most interesting and complex histories of superheroes. an alien sent to Earth just before it's destruction his not knowing his real parents.. always wanting to be human, knowing he'll never been. anyway Obviously I'm a Superman geek, and so far Smallville has been the best adaption of him imo.
though just a few weeks ago this would have been lowing on the list two things changed that.
1# The Trailer, sure it doesn't show much, but the feel was perfect, artful and emotional. suggesting that it's going for Depth and Emotion and not Visuals Visuals, action (although, I'm sure that will be great.
in short I was very pleased with the teaser

1# The Dark Knight Rises Written and Directed  by Christopher Nolan. was one of the  Best movies of all time and the Bast "Batman" Film I could Imagine. and I'm not even a huge Batman fan!. so this is written by Nolan also.. I'm excited.. also word is this could be the launching film for the Justice League! if it's successful! Probably one of the most Wished for movie to see get made of my lifetime. I still have some doubts.. Henry Cavil for one thing, I was not Impressed With him in "Immortals" but that was just a bad movie done very poorly, which sometimes even the best actors can't take seriously. I'm just Hoping WB knows what they're doing with the casting... he looked good in the trailer

but yes when it's all said in done, this could be I'm hoping one of the best superhero film ever made, maybe the best.. so that is why this is my Number 1# for 2013.

and there you have it my countdown for for my top 13 most anticipated films of 2013 is complete. I hope you enjoyed reading. and there is much more to come!

And Number 2# is...

Releases 12.13.13

Wow, I had a hard time deciding this one. it almost made my 1# so close, but I looked in my heart and there is something else I'm looking forward to even more..what is it? well that's for next time. but hey I still am dying to see this film. I mean it's the Hobbit!!! Journey Back to Middle Earth! the film, that had one of the most difficult green-lighting and pre-production ever! and it's finally coming! not just one but apparently three films based on it. It was two till very recently, and to be honest I'm not quite sure how I feel about that. The Hobbit's not a very long book; just over 300 pages, but if the third ones more of a bridge film then actually part of the Hobbit, that could be very interesting. I don't know..
but this is the second part I'm talking about, where Bilbo faces off aganist Smaug the Dragon! (at least I'm hoping it still is. the only thing is, I read the book. and it's a great, fun, interesting story about how Bible found the one ring. but it's just can't top Lord of the Rings. it's not as Epic or as deep as that story, but Peter Jackson is one of the best people in movie business out there. (imo) anyway (I'll forgive him for King Kong). and Like I Said, starting this Christmas you get to go back to Middle Earth! and the Lord of Rings, is probably one of the most influential movies in my young life. I just love it. it's so amazing good verus evil! Epic stakes. cannot wait for this one. (P.S. wanted to let you know, I Saw The Dark Knight Rises. so you can expect a review soon!)

Now I am Getting Into my Top 3

3#

Star Trek 2! (or whatever They're going to call it.)

There is so little known about this film, they started filming it last January and we haven't got some much as an official title. well if secretive-ism is what they were going for kudos to them! but Let me just say the that I was not an Star Trek Fan in the least... until 2009. When J.J. Abrams Released the re-imagined the star trek cannon with something mind blowing! Star Trek, the cast was pitch perfect, the sets were dazzling the score was slick, everyone about this movie was great (well almost everything.) and and totally sequel appropriate, so this is a really, really close call for 3rd, my Top 3 well 4 really are all so anticipated it's hard to single them out, but I believe this is the correct place for now, of course once there is more info for these titles it may change it bit. but yes I true cannot wait for the movie to come out! hope it can be as amazing as the first!

Number 4#

Releases 11.22.13

The Sequel to the mega hit "The Hunger Games" About teens who are forced to battle each other to the death on live television. by their corrupt government. but it's also based on the book of the same name. which when I read it I thought was one of the best novels of all time. sure it got a little slow in the middle but the last 250 pages paces just like a racing heart, so intense, the stakes are so high.. is Katness losing her mind?, are they really going to do this again? lets just say what happened in this book is what i wanted to happen in the first one.. if only they were splitting this book, instead of the third one, why is this number 4# on my list then.. well for one 2013 is turning out to be a year of great potential for films, and for an other, I loved the Hunger Games movie, but there was some stuff they left out. and it wasn't quite perfect. the acting by Lawrence pretty much made up for most of it, and there is some risk that it won't be quite what I was hoping for, Sam Clafin (if true) isn't the worst choice for Finnick, (my Favorite Character in the series btw) but I think they could have done better, but maybe he can surprise me and just maybe it will be a masterpiece like the book.

Monday, July 30, 2012

Hey, sorry It's been so long that I posted on my countdown, the last few days have been pretty busy.

But alas here is my number 5# for 2013

Or Thor 2,  releases 11.8.13 (right before my birthday!) the Sequel to 2011's "Thor" which I found to be immensely enjoyable. And a great starter film, if a little light for a film about the god of thunder.
but with a title like "The Dark World" this one should be a little edgier. as of now there is not much else known about the film aside from speculation. The Dark World could be refereeing to Svartalfheim, home of the Dark Elves, (basically elves with Purple Skin) or  Muspelheim. the realm of eternal fire. or Niffelheim. basically Asguardian hell. or something else entirety. once more is revealed this could move higher.. or maybe lower. but I loved Thor, and I have a feeling that this will be even better.

and my 2013 6# is

Releases 5.3.13

Well, The Avengers was like the best movie ever.. so I'm pretty much ecstatic when you mention a "Marvel" movie, now. and the is my first truly official anticipated film to be on this list, so it's all gravy from here on up. however, Iron Man 2 was a bit of a letdown compared to the first but it was still a solid film for the most but, but certainly seem to be getting back on track with Thor, Captain America, and of course the Avengers, apparently Tony will faces off against Mandarin, his' Arch Enemy. an scientific genius. also, the Iron Patriot apparently appears as well. so at the least I think this will be an improvement over Iron Man 2. with Marvel.. the Stars seem to be the limit though. lets hope they can keep their momentum up!

Monday, July 23, 2012

My 2013 7#

Despicable Me 2 Releases 7.3.12

Well there's not really much to say about this one. for one thing, there's not really much information about the film.  But Gru's Back! and so are the minions, lets just hope this one can be as funny touching and cute as the last one.

Saturday, July 21, 2012

And now for my Number 8# most anticipated film of 2013

 Releases 11.1.13

70 years after an alien invasion on Earth, mankind, has began finding genius children to train in zero-g
combat and tactical strategy games, Ender Wiggin is chosen the youngest of three as the savoir for mankind.. and the annihilator for the Aliens..

I read this book I read about a year ago, and found very intriguing to say the least, if a little graphic for focusing on such small children (Ender is 5 in the beginning in goes through most of his younger childhood during most of the book.) of course they got an older actor to him him in the film, and it will most likely be toned down in the film, and with some great actors on board like Harrison Ford, Viola Davis and Hailee Steinfeld. along with what I've seen so far of the set, this movie as got me very interested, it could be one of the best movies of the year or a major flop. most likely somewhere in-between. I shall have to wait and see I guess.

Shooting in Colorado at "Dark Knight" Screening

An awful tragedy occurred last night at the midnight screening for The Dark Knight Rises, in Colorado, 12 people were shot and killed and over 50 injured. the suspected killer was arrested shortly afterward. just wanted to say something. about it in respect for those who were affected by this massacre , and to think the families and friends who have lost their loves ones and lift them up in prayer, that they would tale this time to drawl close to God, the only true comfort in a time of trouble.

"The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble."

The movies are suppose to be a time of relaxing and enjoyment, this is just sad and sick in every-way.

2013 9# is.

 Releases 3.29.13

First set for June 29th this year. paramount apparently decided the release schedule for this summer was to crowded. and moved at all the way back to March 29th 2013. weather is good for the financial success of the film, I'm not sure. but they did it nonetheless, now I liked the Original film, even if it was a little campy okay alot, but it had some great action sequences and neat visuals. that and the trailer for this one looks really cool, Ditching most of the original cast usually would be a bad thing. not so for this one, with Dwayne Johnson and Bruce Willis, to the mix, a more serious tone (not to serious). this movie actually looks pretty good. I'm excited for it.

Okay folks now we are getting into my top 10 for next year, be warned I might start to sound excited (probably not too much until I hit 6# ;))
and my Number 10# for 2013 is...

Releases 7.26.13

The sequel; somewhat spin-off (?) to 2009s' X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Takes the clawed mutant to Japan Where he Faces off against Samurai's and gets a new love interest.

I liked the first wolverine, I know alot of people didn't. but overall it was a enjoyable intense action movie... full of contradictions, and even some character hacking. (haha!) and come on, it's a superhero movie! (One of my favorite movie genres in case you don't know me.) They should be able to do better then that. In 2X to flashbacks, saying Logan/Wolverine would have no memory after the procedure to turns is excel-skeleton  to steel, or more actually antamantum. Where in Wolverine he still has his memory afterwards, and doesn't lose it till he gets shot in the head, with an antamantum bullet. come on! not to mention turning Deadpool into some sort of mad scientist experiment. but enough of that, lets talk about the new movie. now I love Wolverine, but after four X-men movies staring him, he can get a little old. Nonetheless I'll still be seeing this when it comes out next summer. (cause i just can't help myself!) and they say they are suppose to be taking it into a different direction. if that direction is good and close the the source materiel this could be a really good movie, but I'll have to wait and see.

2013 11# Most anticipated films is..

                                                                       Releases 7.3.13
Well what it's about is pretty self explanatory, The Lone Ranger, and Tonto, his Indian Side Kick. played by Johnny Deep. Now I know very little about the Lone Ranger. and never really watched the show, but it is Diseny, and apparently, it has a budget exceeding $200m. ($50m is probably going to Johnny) but I like Westerns and this should be one film I will definitely want to catch next summer.

And My 12# of 2013 is

Releases 3.8.13

Taking place before "The Wizard of Oz" this story focuses on the Oz himself finding the magical land, and how he becomes the Wonderful Wizard of Oz. (haha)

Now I'm not a big fan of The original film. And not long ago had little interest in this film. (of course there wasn't much about it until now), but with Sam Raimi the director of Spider-Man and the producers of Alice In Wonderland" behind this, it should at least be a visual treat. and if anyone knows how to work their film magic it's Disney.

and 2013 13# most anticipated film is:

 Releases 5.24.13

premise a teenage girl is transported to a forest where the forces of good and evil face off, (and she appears to be tiny)

from blue sky animation the studio that brought you the "Ice Age" films and "Horton Hears a Who!" now this is Number 13# and I wouldn't really say that I'm exactly "Anticipating it" but I've Always been fascinated with tiny people in forest settings and the Trailer   http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0848537/ looks promising and I would say this is a worthy title for the 13# spot (Jack the Giant Killer Almost made this list which also as my interest.) but for new I'll go with Epic.

Okay, with comic con going on right now, it makes me psyched for what the future of  film as to hold, or more notably 2013.. yeah can you believe it, it's just around the corner. so I'm going to list and bits of why I want to see, my top 13 most anticipated films of 2013 of course it may change a bit but for now, I'll try and be as accurate as I can on what I want to see most. (as 2013 approaches I might do a revised list)

oh and on that top 25 favorite films I still plan on making it but it turned out to be harder putting together then I thought, for one thing finding for sure what they are ! but I'll get to it eventually.

and I would also like to note, that Legend of Korra, the new tv series from Nickelodeon has 52 episodes lined up now!! I love the show it's so amazing especially for an animated series and I can't wait for season 2 to air!!

Wednesday, July 4, 2012

Hey, everyone, Happy Fourth of July!  I know I was going to do my top 10 favorite movies of all time (which is probably turning out to be top 25 now BTW)

But I just Saw “The Amazing Spider-Man” today and kind of wanted to review it while it’s fresh in my mind. I’ll try and leave it as spoiler free as I can, but there may be some minor spoilers below. Be warned.

                                                          The Amazing Spider-Man

Let’s just say I went into the theater not really sure what to except, for one thing the original “Spider-Man” was in my opinion one of the best superhero movies ever. In fact it’s in part because of Spider-Man that I got into the superhero genre. Nevertheless, I made sure to keep an open mind when I went into the theater to see the new take on the web spinning hero.  Boy was I surprised, from the very beginning of the movie of was hooked or more accurately webbed (:B). It begins with peter as a small boy, apparently playing hide and seek. Then he finds his dad’s office sabotaged. After this his parents leave him in the care of his loving Aunt May and Uncle Ben, played wonderfully by Sally Field and Martin Sheen. But the real actor who stole the show IMO was in fact Pater Parker himself, played flawlessly by Andrew Garfield. Now I loved Toby Maguire’s performance in the originals (save Spidey 3). But Andrew may actually be the better Peter. He comes across as soft spoken, and sometimes awkward, but very witty and is actually the main source of comic relief in the movie, with quirky one-liners, and shy attempts at wooing his high school crush, Gwen Stacy (played by Emma Stone). The best thing about him, is you can feel what he’s going through just by his body language, or small gestures. You know he’s just a good person, if somewhat conflicted and lost over not knowing what happened to his parents or why they left him.
Now to Emma stone. I loved her in her role, she was witty and mature, and also very pretty as Gwen Stacy and only added more heart to the movie. Rhy Ifans plays the villain The Lizard, and Dr. Curt Conners (who is missing arm BTW). He does a fine job as well, but he seemed a bit familiar, a little to close to the Green Goblen in the original. Now for the visuals. They really were amazing. The camera flowed and kind of danced across the scenes like a spinning web.  Made it feel very stylish, some of the scenery itself was quite dazzling and there was also a big 1960s retro feel to the film; the score especially (which was great also, although I’m not sure if it could top the original theme), emphasized this. And when he swung across buildings you could almost feel the sensation  of flying through the air. I also had the pleasure of seeing it in 3D. Some of the scenes did actually pop out of the screen, although there was a relatively small amount of action sequences and many scenes had almost no 3D at all to them (which is fine), so it’s probably almost just as enjoyable in 2D.  The only big issue I had was a lot of the movie was very similar to the first Spider-Man. But most of the similar issues were well portrayed- some even better; it definitely had more emotional depth, at least on a personal level. Of course I seem to be comparing it to the first Spider-Man a lot, but I guess it’s kind of hard not to. I mean it did only come out 10 years ago. So, yes, overall it wasn’t only a solid re-imaging, but possibly one of the best superhero movies to date. I loved it. Go see “The Amazing Spider-Man”.
